Cool wedding planning resources I made

It feels like a relevant time to remind you that I make everything I use as a professional available for free.

Blame my journalism degree but pretty much since I started my business, I’ve maintained a gallery of downloadable, editable Google Docs. Eight years in, it’s a pretty beefy list.

‘Tis the season for wedding shows.

Here’s my advice on how you can make these (often toxic) spaces a little more useful. Pairs nicely with this list of 15+ words we can use to make weddings more inclusive.

Save-the-dates and/or invites: when to send' ‘em.

These vendors are helping people get married right now.

Below are two lists of vendors who are offering discounts to support people getting married before next year’s U.S. presidential inauguration because of the uncertainty brought about by the re-election of Donald Trump.

This one is from Seattle-based wedding publication Offbeat Wed, and this one is specific to the New England area.

Wedding as life transition — now there’s a thought!

This 36-minute podcast episode got me thinking about all of the feelings — and particularly the tough ones — that planning a wedding brings up.

My five-year wedding anniversary is this month.

Which is maybe why this Reddit post about the best advice 10+ years after having a wedding came to mind.

A scenic, centrally located venue in Portland, Oregon, is having a free open house in January.

I’ve only worked here once but I frequently recommend it to folks who want nature with an easy commute. If you go, consider this list of questions to ask (and particularly the required vendor one).

Psst — Per my code of conduct, I don’t take kickbacks or other things of value for my referrals.

Wedding vendors, this is for you

Since 2021, I’ve hosted an annual season of educational programming to make the wedding industry less gross. I took this year off because I had a baby but baby, we’re back.

The first pay-what-you-can Q&A is next month.

Weddings take a lot of work! For a little extra help, consider:
