Someone Test Positive for COVID After Your Wedding? What to Say

This story was originally published on September 15, 2021, and last updated on June 14, 2022.

Did you host a wedding and afterward learn that someone tested positive for COVID-19?

First off, I hope you have time and space to feel the feels on this one. It’s complicated and messy and there’s a whole lot of self-inflicted shame we put on ourselves during this (still!) challenging time.

Then, I hope you tell everyone who attended the wedding in-person about this important update. When I say “everyone” I mean everyone: your wedding guests and your wedding vendors.

That’s a tough conversation to have. To help, I made this free communication template.

If you’re in this situation, please use it. I know that’s a very hard thing to ask. I also encourage you to think about how you’d want to be treated if the roles were reversed.
